It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Ms. Xiong Fangzhi Jamie on 18 April 2026 in Beijing, at the age of 53. Jamie joined our Club in 2023 and, in a remarkably short time, embodied the very best of our community—generous in spirit, purposeful in action, and unwavering in her belief in sailing as a force for connection and growth.
A true example of “Gain to Give,” Jamie devoted herself to building strong bridges between HHYC and the Greater Bay Area sailing communities. She worked tirelessly to align collaborations that created opportunity and shared benefit for sailors on both sides of the border.
Inclusion was central to Jamie’s vision. She proudly put forward a ladies’ team for last year’s Steering The Course programme, served with distinction in race management, and participated in the World Sailing Team Racing Umpiring Clinic, deepening her knowledge in service of the sport. As a valued member of the Sailing Committee, her insight, energy, and warmth elevated every discussion and decision.
Based in Shenzhen yet deeply connected to Hong Kong, Jamie dedicated her life to advancing sailing education and participation across China. Beyond Hong Kong, Jamie was deeply involved in the development of sailing across China. She contributed to national promotion and development efforts through the Chinese Sailing Association, supported the delivery of major international regattas including the China Cup, and helped lead grassroots participation through her work with a Shenzhen‑based sailing club. She was equally committed to education and community building beyond the sport, remaining actively engaged with the alumni community of Shenzhen University. Across all these efforts, Jamie was known for her ability to connect people, build momentum, and create opportunities for others.
Jamie’s legacy reminds us that what we gain from sailing is most powerful when shared. She will be deeply missed.
